Translational research has been the main engine driving advances in Medicine. To promote the same effort in Dentistry, the Consortium for Translational Orthodontic Research (CTOR) in collaboration with the AADR New York Section proposes a CTOR AWARD for the top 3 Dental students and 3 Post-Graduate students that attempt to advance patient care in Clinical Dentistry utilizing current scientific principles.

In April 2015, CTOR Fellows and students presented their research projects at New York University College of Dentistry Annual Research Day. Eight students received awards including the Dean’s Award for Oustanding Presentation, for the best overall work of this year event. To learn more about their projects and this event visit

December 2013 - CTOR, with the New York State Section of the American Association for Dental Research (NY-AADR), sponsored its First CTOR Award at the 2013 Greater New York Dental Meeting. Over 40 dental students from the US Eastern region competed for the Outstanding Translational Dental Research award. Twelve finalists were selected, and 3 students received First, Second and Third place award including a certificate and monetary gift.

November 2013 - The latest publication from CTOR features clinical research on accelerated tooth movement. The article, "Effect of Micro-osteoperforations on the Rate of Tooth Movement," was published in the November 2013 issue of the AJODO.
